This page provides details about the Hector data release v0_01, which occurred on 3 April 2024. If you have any queries, please contact Sree Oh (sreemario@gmail.com) or Madusha Gunawardhana (madusha.gunawardhana@sydney.edu.au).
Release Catalogue
Before downloading the data, please read release note and catalogue first.
Useful values
Below is Sree’s catalogue, which extracts some useful information (redshift, mass, re etc.) from tile files.
Please be aware that this is not an official catalogue from the team, and it should be replaced with the official one when it is ready.
Also note that the values from the periods 220817_220904 and 220914_220925 are incorrect.
Download the data
Data releases v0_01 release 3714 cubes including 1421 unique galaxies. All cubes are compressed, totaling 230 GB in size.
The cubes are uploaded to the data central clouds:
https://cloud.datacentral.org.au/apps/files/?dir=/Hector/Data_Release/release_v0_01
It is recommended to use rsync:
rsync -avz -e ‘ssh -p 2232’ hector@uploads.datacentral.org.au:/data/Data_Release/release_v0_01 ./

Known issues
- On commissioning runs: 220817_220904, 220914_220925, and 221019_221030
- Only primary flux calibrations were applied to the commissioning runs 220817_220904 and 220914_220925
- No quality control (PSF FWHM and transmission cut) applied to the commissioning data
- Tile files from the commissioning runs 220817_220904 and 220914_220925 include wrong redshifts
- Low throughput from Spector Red (ccd4) from the commissioning runs 220817_220904 and 220914_220925
- Telluric correction failed for three frames of the H01_T209 tile in November 2023
- Cube orientations are flipped in Y (N-S) direction and do not match with WCS and external images.
- The continuum levels of the blue and red arms do not match for some cubes from the 230906_230917 run
- Holely cubes in some blue ccds; see DR meeting summary on 16 April 2024
- Since September 2023, galaxy IDs have included a prefix (either ‘w’ or ‘c’). Twenty-two galaxies observed both before and after this naming change have ids with and without the prefix, causing them to be recognized as different galaxies.
Report issues on individual objects
- Report any issues on individual objects: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GvQVK3rFZjZzgr-8Z2ViVs9HwJrZGeCYc6wJy7m5UFA/edit?usp=sharing
- If the issue is related to bulk data, then it may be more efficient to contact the DR team rather than listing them all here
- The DR team will address the issues on the individual galaxies once the issues affecting the bulk data are resolved
- Feel free to send an email to Sree and Madusha to bring this to attention
